Embracing New Perspectives: Whataboutisms and PRCA's CPD Partnership
As the communication landscape evolves, it’s crucial for professionals—both seasoned and emerging—to engage in meaningful dialogue and continuous learning. This is where the partnership between Whataboutisms (WAI) and the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) comes into play, offering a unique opportunity for development and growth within our industry.
At WAI, we believe in the power of young communicators to reshape the future of our industry. Our mission is to platform voices studying and in junior-level roles—interns, apprentices, and trainees—allowing them to express their opinions and share ideas on topics they are passionate about. By doing so, fostering critical thinking and cultivating intellectual discourse among emerging talents.
A Recap of Our First Event
In July, we hosted our inaugural Whataboutisms event, in partnership with tech PR and marketing agency CCGroup, which was met with remarkable enthusiasm and support. This gathering brought together a diverse group of young professionals and industry veterans, sparking conversations that challenged the status quo. Our incredible panellists of juniors and students were eloquent, prepared and passionate when debating the topic “are we moving too fast with AI in communications?". It was a vibrant atmosphere for learning and networking. Our judging panel made up of notable industry figures; journalist, Habiba Katsha, Head of Telecoms at CCGroup, Anais Merlin, journalist, Chikamso Chukwuenyem and Creative Director at Burson, Greg Double who gave in depth feedback for each panellist allowing opportunities for growth early on in the panellists careers.
Upcoming Event: Save the Date!
As part of our collaboration with the PRCA, we are excited to inform you that attendance at any WAI event qualifies for PRCA Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points. This integration emphasises the value of continuous learning and professional growth, encouraging attendees to not only engage with fresh ideas but also advance their careers.
We are thrilled to announce our next event on November 20th, 2024, hosted by global reputation and policy advisory firm, Milltown Partners. This evening promises to be filled with thought-provoking discussions and industry insights. It aligns perfectly with our mission to create a safe space for young communication professionals, encouraging them to share their perspectives and contribute to the ongoing dialogue within our field. Join us in their Holborn offices for an evening of discussion and networking.
In a time where the voice of young communicators is often underrepresented, WAI’s commitment is to amplify these voices. Through our partnership with the PRCA, we are not just promoting events; we are fostering an ecosystem of learning, innovation, and collaboration within the communications industry.
